A CFD study to determine the optimal configuration of mixers at Gryaab WWTP
Sludge management in bioreactors is crucial for maintaining optimal system performance. Typically, sedimentation patterns are significantly impacted by bioreactor hydrodynamics and sometimes it can be a complex task to predict how different solutions will work, especially when the tank shape is challenging . This presentation will share an example of how CFD modeling was utilized to examine the correlation between bulk flow velocity, velocity profiles, and sludge deposition at the Gryaab WWTP. Furthermore, a numerical age analysis was conducted to assess the potential risks associated with flow short-circuiting and stagnation. Come and listen how the effect of flow patterns on sludge deposition was explored across various operational scenarios, resulting in improved planning for future operations and desludging at the Gryaab WWTP.
