VSGM delivers a circular solution to sludge and similar waste processing.

Our patented MID MIX technology converts sludge into valuable materials, with a positive yield. We have proven positive results processing several types of sludge and similar wastes, including:

  • Municipal WWTP-sludge
  • Industrial sludge from waste water treatment from food processing plant
  • Industrial sludge from Waste incineration bottom ash washing
  • Biogas production digestate cake
  • Soil cleaning residue
  • Sieved sorting sand

In addition, the process might be useful for processing of sludge from other industries, dredgings and semi-solid digestate residues.

We can deliver our proven technology for limited investment, with a small installation footprint, within a short timeframe (<12 months for a fully installed line) and all of that at an ROI of under 5 years. Our process is viable with a positive business case starting at a processing volume of 20.000 ton per year. With our technology, we can help both organisations producing sludge by providing a better solution at lower cost than current gate fees as well as current waste incineration or waste treatment organisations by increasing capacity and improving their business model. 

In the MID MIX process, a controlled reaction of sludge with quicklime produces Neutral, a secondary material that has a positive value and multiple applications for replacing virgin calcium-based materials. Some applications include:

  • Use as filler in cement production, replacing hydrated lime
  • Use as filler in asphalt production, replacing hydrated lime
  • Post-processing with CO2 capture into limestone meal
  • Use in flue-gas cleaning of cement kilns or large (waste) incineration plants, replacing hydrated lime
  • Post-processing through de-hydration to recover quicklime with partial re-use as MID MIX input

Our process has proven environmental benefits, confirmed by independent LCA-studies. With a process line capacity of 8 ton/hour (dewatered sludge input) or over 50.000 ton per year we can scale efficiently and deploy locally, minimising transport. The MID MIX process can treat any input with dry matter between 20 and 80%, regardless of contaminants and pollutants present in the input material.
